COVID-19 Precautions

As you’re no doubt aware, with the spread of COVID-19, we’re working through a difficult time together. In this time of limited social interaction, if we act conscientiously and cautiously, we can get through this together!

We are closely monitoring the Official Canadian Public Health Service announcements, and following government protocols as a business.

During this time of uncertainty, we at Deep Cove Kayak have opted to postpone the opening of our waterfront rental location for the 2020 season. This includes all rentals, lessons and tours.

At DCK we are passionate about getting outside, being active and enjoying the ocean. We would love nothing more than to start our operation to help our community find some fresh air and open space out on the ocean during these times. We want to encourage our community to continue getting outside and enjoying nature as best as possible while following and respecting the need for social distancing, isolation and quarantine when appropriate.

Closing our doors and postponing the start to our season is obviously not our preferred way to start the 2020 paddling season. We realize that our business is not necessarily a high risk facility for spreading the virus and it would be possible for us to make changes to our procedures to reduce touch points and extended face to face interactions. We hope that we can implement these changes in future when it becomes more appropriate for us to open for the season; but at this time we feel it is the most responsible decision for us to remain closed and do our part to reduce the potential for social gathering in the community of Deep Cove.

We feel very strongly that it is critical that everyone does their part to reduce social interaction and gathering, out of respect for the healthcare system and those who are vulnerable in our community.

We are currently going to remain closed with an optimistic target of opening our doors again on April 10th, 2020. This date is our current target and may be subject to change. This delayed start means that we will be postponing the start of our weekly events including Tuesday Night Races and Women on Water; as well as, our Women on Water Workshop scheduled for early May.

Any customers who have made reservations or bookings are able to receive a full refund, or are welcome to keep a credit on file for future bookings. We will remain available to answer any questions you may have. Email will be the best way for us to be reached at this time.

Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

We look forward to seeing you on the water as soon as possible!
