Board the Fjord is CHANGING for 2018.We have added the “PLUS” as we are now opening the race to ALL WATERCRAFT. It is replacing the Tour de Arm race traditionally held at this time of the year, and for 2018 we will end the season with the Indian Arm Challenge on Saturday, September 8th. We are committed to keeping the spirit of the Board the Fjord event, with a full day of racing and festivities in beautiful Deep Cove and Indian Arm.
The scenic race course takes paddlers around 7 different islands in North America’s southern-most fjord. There are 14km, 7km or 4km course options for all levels of paddler, and a 1km Kids Race which will take place after the main races. The race is open to recreational and competitive paddlers and we encourage everyone to come out and challenge themselves at this great event!
This race will act as the Second Half of the International Surfski Challenge against the US paddlers – a reminder for them that TEAM CANADA has now won the last two years in a row…The first half of the Challenge is the Dan Harris Race in Bellingham – Sunday, April 22nd, 10:00 am at Boulevard Park, Bellingham – their website can be found here.
The race is ALSO the first race in the BC SUP Cup – see below for details!
We will have a great variety of draw prizes and some awards for top finishers in numerous categories.
Registration is open on March 2nd, by clicking here. Details about Race Day timing etc will be confirmed as soon as we can, but we anticipate a start time of 11am so that paddlers from Bellingham, Kelowna, Vancouver Island and further afield can make it.
Some ground rules/information points:
– For a category to podium it must have 3 or more persons registered to race in it.
– Racers who register before April 8th will get a Custom Race Jersey – choose the name for the back of your shirt when you register. (Racers who register after April 8th will still receive a jersey, just not customised)
