Paddle Swim Paddle

It was hot, what a perfect night for a swim. But where to swim. The rowing club wasn't to keen about 75 bodies flailing around their sculls, Rowan our instructor was conducting a capsize course at Panorama Beach and felt 75 kayaks and swimmers might distract his studens. The only option left was to paddle to Jug and swim there. Something I have been wanting to do for a long time. Originally it was a swim around Jug, but Joel cooled my enthusiasm and suggested swimming from the beach to the island and back. After that Paddle to Hamber Island, Grey Rocks and back to The Cove. The start was delayed while we waited for paddlers stuck on the 2nd Narrows. Once at Jug the Beach quick became plugged with kayaks. Unfortunately there were no swimming lanes, and racers dodged each other uncertain of lane protocal, paddlers taking off from the beach had to be careful not to plow into a swimmer. The Tombolo at Hamber island was submerged by a mear 12 inches of water, and flowing like a river. After rounding Grey Rocks it was a battle into a current and back to Deep Cove.
