Deep Cove Explorer & Natural History Tour

Natural History Tour The Deep Cove Explorer and Natural History Tour is a must, this is an experience you will not forget! During this relaxing guided paddle you will explore Deep Cove, learn about local history and relish the beauty of our surrounding mountains. Nestled in our personal fjord, you will find harbor seals, eagles and other wildlife in a rich marine environment.

The Deep Cove Explorer and Natural History Tour is open to all abilities; our professional guides will cover the basic concepts of kayaking before getting on the water.

Your program will feature information on:

  1. Equipment knowledge and Safety (on land)…approx. 30 min
    • PFD and Spray skirt
    • Boat (rudder, cables, hatches…)
    • Paddling position with 3 points of contact
    • Skirts and wet exits
    • Adjusting foot pedals

  2. Safety on the water (discussion/theory…on water)
    • Decision-making and awareness (Introduction to group dynamics, crossings, boat traffic…)

  3. Interpretation and Natural History
    • Identification of local flora and fauna (harbour seals, sea gulls, cormorants, eagles, jelly fish, sea stars etc.)
    • Historical tour in Indian Arm Provincial Park

Price: $80 for teens and adults, $50 for kids 12 and under
